Introducing 'Mums Are Like Buttons' Sentiments

This is the second of my new sentiment releases this week : ) I've called it 'Mums Are Like Buttons'.

And they are lovely. They are modern and trendy in style. And very feminine. I think you'll like these : )

Here's a little bit more about them ...

There are three different, mixed-typeface styles included in the set
- doodle style
- printed style &
- simple style.

All of them ...
- they print as A4 sheets, with enough white space around them so you can indulge in some creative cutting
- matching gift tags are included
- and so too are 3 sets of matching card inserts, one for each of the styles, and each one suitable for a variety of card sizes
- they will retail for £3.99.

I'm going to show each one to you, along with a step-by-step, photo tutorials for THREE CARDS, one for each of the styles, and a matching GIFT TAG which I hope will inspire you to create something wonderful with them : )

Doodle Style
These are the sentiments ...

This is the card I've created using style number one ~ Doodle Style.

To make this first card you will need ...
A6 Cream Card Blank.
(I hand cut mine from a sheet of A4 300gsm White card, which I printed with Pale Cream from the 'Vintage Rose Collection. It made 2 card blanks. And I used the other one for my second card, below.)
Patterned Paper cut to 7.5mm wide, 160mm length.
(I chose the Script design from 'Perfect' Papers.)
Sentiment printed on 300gsm White card, printed with Washed Stone, from the Colour Collection.
Printed Insert.
(I printed mine onto 120gsm white paper, printed in 'Pretty Pink'.)
Pink Silk Ribbon. Cream Button Twine
Pearl Buttons.

1. Using the edges of your card blank as a guide, place the patterned paper and sentiment centrally onto your card, folding over the excess at the top edge.

2. Adjust, by trimming, the inside edge, so the edges are aligned. I had to trim away approx. 1mm.

3. Stitch your patterned paper to your card blank, using a freestyle straight stitch and stitching around 3 edges only.

4. Fold over the top edge and stick.

5. Tie your silk ribbon around your sentiment, in a casual bow. And stick this down, centrally, folding over the top edge neatly.

6. Add your insert. And a cover sheet, cut from 120gsm paper, to cover the stitching on the inside of your card if you like.

And your card is finished!

To make the matching Gift Tag, you will need ...
Sentiment (for the front) cut from 300gsm card to 5.5cm by 14.5cm.
Piece of plain card (for the back), also cut to 5.5cm by 14.5cm.
Two strips of patterned papers for the inserts - 5.5cm by 29cm, folded.
Pearl Buttons.
Hole Punch.
Button twine in natural and Pink.

And this is SO simple to make : )
1. Arrange the four pieces of card and paper as shown in the images above. Align them and whilst holding them firmly in place and together, punch a hole through all the layers.
2. Thread through your Button Twine ...
3. ... and trim with pretty pearly buttons.

Done!

This is style number two ~ Printed Type.

These are the sentiments ...

And to make this card you will need ...
A6 Cream Card Blank
(Hand cut, as above for my Doodle style card)
Patterned Paper cut to 7.5mm wide, 160mm length.
(I chose the Script design from 'Perfect' Papers. There was enough from a single sheet for both cards)
Sentiments printed on 300gsm White card, printed with Washed Stone, from the Colour Collection.
Printed Insert.
(I printed mine onto 120gsm white paper, printed in 'Pretty Pink'.)
Cream Button Twine
Pearl Buttons.

1. Stitch the patterned paper, centrally, to the card base, using a freestyle straight stitch.

2. Cut out and mount your sentiments to the front of the card using 3D foam pads ...
3. ... and add the buttons.

4. Tie a length of Natural Button twine around the front edge of the card, and tie into a bow ...
5. ... and add your insert, trimmed to size, to the inside of the card.

And your card is complete!

And style number three is Simple Style.

These are the Simple Style Sentiments ...

And to make this card, you will need ...
A6 White Card Blank
Printed Insert.
(I printed mine onto 120gsm white paper, printed in 'Pretty Pink'.
Sentiment printed onto White Linen paper and cut out with a Scallop Edge Die.
(I used a Scallop Edge Die by Tim Holtz. It cuts approx. 14cm in length, and any width I want. My sentiment is approx. 6cm wide.)
Three small pieces of patterned paper. Also cut out with a Scallop Edge Die.
(I chose a Solid colour in Stone. And a 'Roses' paper from 'Perfect' Papers. They are cut to a depth of approx. 2.5cm.)
Tiny Buttons by Dress It Up
Kraft Button Twine

1. Layer your scallop pieces, one on top of another, onto your card base and stick them down. Place them centrally, ensuring equally spaced borders around the edge of your card.

This is the trickiest part of the card to do. And the most time-consuming. But it is important to get this step right if you want a neat, professional finish to your card. Once you have done this, the rest of your card will be finished very quickly and easily.

2. Tie a double length of Kraft String around the top edge of your card.
3. Add your buttons ...

4. ... and your insert, trimmed to size.

And your card is finished!

You can find 'Mums Are Like Buttons' *here* in the Boutique.
And I hope you like them!
