Hop Hop Hurray!

I have a card to share with you today. It's a card for Easter. But I've made it using products from the Boutique that I wouldn't automatically go to for making Easter cards.

I've used the little girlie bunny image from 'Little Hugs' for my card. I haven't made anything with this set for a long, long time. It's a surprisingly versatile little set and it was nice to see it again. I'd forgotten how cute the images are!

And I chose a sentiment from 'Tiny {Sweet Treat} Sentiments' for my gift.

For styling, I wanted a simple, natural (almost rustic) style for my card. So I chose an earthy colour palette - cream, pink and green with chocolate to highlight and add depth. (And match my chocolate bunnies!)

And opted for natural materials with contrasting textures to add interest. I chose a textured card for my card base and to print my image. But kept my image softly coloured, with a flat finish to contrast. And finished with more contrast - a beautiful soft, pink silk ribbon, wrapped with a coarse-textured kraft twine, in chocolate.

I'll show you how I made them : )

HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE EASTER TREAT

You will need ...
Cream textured A6 card blank
Your coloured image, printed onto matching textured card
Paper for insert
Rub-On Sentiment
Pink Silk Ribbon
Chocolate Button Twine
Cream Thread for stitching

1. Stitch around all 4 edges of your card blank, using a freestyle straight stitch.
2. Cut out your image so it measures 3cm less than your card base, in both length and width. You want to leave a 1.5cm border around it on all sides, on your finished card. And using your rub-ons, add your sentiment below your image.
3. Wrap your silk ribbon around your image, and tie it into a casual bow. Add your chocolate button twine, and stick them both down together.
4. Mount your image centrally to your card base, leaving a 1.5cm border all around it, using 3D foam pads for added dimension.

5. Add your insert, trimmed to size, to the inside of your card ...

And your card is finished!

My gift tag, was tied simply to the top of a cellophane card bag with my bunnies inside, using Chocolate Kraft Twine. And trimmed with buttons.

Lovely!
